Windshield Wiper Motor

Tackled a great project this weekend.
1993 Firebird.
For years my wipers have not parked, and they would occasionally stop at the top of their travel.
Finally, last week the motor would not run at all.
So, I purchased a rebuilt motor assembly and installed it this past weekend.
Not a tough job, but access is a bit limited for those of us with large hands.
I put it back together and then disaster. The new motor assembly was bad. Made a very loud noise and vibrated like crazy.
I need my wipers to work as this is my daily driver, and did not want to wait for another replacement to arrive so I got creative.
I installed the new pulse board and new drive arm on the old motor and gearbox and figured I would see what happens.
Perfect..!!!
Runs nice and quiet. Park properly. Works great.
Success..!!!

yeah i had to replace the pulse board some time ago too... its a real pita. you have to get everything in a certain position to even get it out. it barely hangs on everything..

also note the when you put wiper arms on make sure to turn the arms away from the park position before taking them off so that they can be put back in the same place.

i didn't and now my park is about an inch above where it should be.... im too lazy to fix it right now lol

Lol. I played around with the wiper positioning for at least an hour. It is perfect now.
Hopefully it lasts for a very long time.

I remember when my wiper motor broke during a heavy snow when my dad was helping me clean off my car so I could make it to school. I had to drive to school with no wipers while it was snowing, only to get there and find out class was cancelled, and then drive home with no wipers. Then I had to drive across town to a junkyard the next weekend that had a Camaro in it with a wiper motor. I pulled that, drove home and installed it and never has a problem with the replacement motor. It was a small crescent shaped piece of metal that broke right down the middle.

We will be working on a 1993 Firebird soon right after we finished installing the new rack and tonneau covers on the truck for kayak mount. The wiper is acting up so we may look for a rebuild or better a new motor. Any lead to where to get these motors?

are they not doing what they are suppose to do? As in the delay is intermittent and the park doesn't work? if so then you need to replace the pulse board. Its hidden under the cowl on the driver side. That is the most common issue with the wipers. the motors are likely fine
