Actually, there's a turbo setup I was looking at that's suppose to get it around 150 RWHP. Considering the car weighs 1750 pounds...

You could've told me that 10 years ago and I'd never have believed you. Just within a couple miles of my house, there were at least 3 or 4 different Ghias running around. Fast forward to now and I don't see them anymore, with exception of a red one I've seen putting along all summer. Unfortunately, it stalled out in traffic last week and the guy couldn't get it to start.

But this looks like it'll be an awesome build. Can't wait to see progress, especially on such a clean one.

TURBO!

I found this kit at VW Turbo Kits.

$2295

This is what it comes with:

1x True 4 into 1 merged collected turbo header, made from 16 gauge steel. ( not 18 or even cheap 20 gauge like others )
***8226;All headers are 100% Polished Chromex Ceramic or Black Velvet Ceramic Coating.
***8226;Each header comes with laser cut 3/8" thick flanges at all ends.
***8226;All LowBugget turbo headers are made in the USA.
***8226; This header will allow you to still remove your fan belt without removing the header unlike others!.
***8226;You can still run heater boxes and stock heater duct shrouds.
***8226;The 1600T header pipes are 1 3/8", 2000TS is 1 1/2"
***8226;Fits under the deck lid!!!
***8226; "J" pipes to match the header. Made from 16 gauge steel, Polished Ceramic Coating.

1x Ceramic Coated "Up Pipe"
Connects the header -to the turbo exhaust housing.
***8226; 3/8" thick flanges.

1x exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe is different with each kit. Bus, Ghia, and 912 kit have the same style that exits out the right side
(1 and 2 side) of your motor. The Bug kits exhaust exits out the left side just under the aprin..
***8226; The size of each exhaust pipe will range from 2 1/2" for most T3 combos to 3" for the large T3/T4 combos.
***8226;All exhaust piping is Ceramic Coated.
***8226;We can add to your exhaust a O2 sensor bung,
***8226;We can add Crank Case E-Vack to vent the case of the extra pressure from the turbo.

***8226;1x Ceramic Coated "Y" pipe that conects your stock end castings to the turbo.
***8226;If you do not have End Castings we can make them to your order.
***8226;We can polish the end castings for you.

***8226;1x Turbo Prep Carbs.
***8226;Did you know that Lowbugget is the only VW turbo shop to set up Holley's for daily drivers that are turbo charged! Yes we use real Holley carbs that are completely gone through and changed so they will drive like a new car but still make big power like all of us want!
***8226;WE ARE THE ONLY SHOP TO DO THESE CHANGES!!!
***8226;We have over 100,000 miles of testing on and off road! We also use our own turbo kits in our daily drivers and race cars.
***8226;over 300hp from our 500cfm turbo prep carb and over 30mpg from our 350cfm turbo prep carb.
***8226;New in 2006 we started to use our Turbo Adjust-A-Jets. The use of our Turbo Adjust-A-Jet gives you complete control over the main jetting with out removing the float bowl or any part to make a jet change!
***8226; Each main jet adjustment can now be made witha screwdriver from the top of the carb. So if you think its running lean or rich just turn the screw! No more buying all those extra jets..
***8226; All of our Holley carbs have no idle or main jets to remove at all!
***8226;The Best part about our carb is its Boost Sensitive Inrinching Power Valve System. The BSIPVS will self-inrichen the main mixture once above 2lbs of boost. Yes this way you will not hurt your motor. We are the only turbo kit manufacturer in the world with this feature.
***8226;We can add mechanical choke ( 500cfm carb only)
***8226;We can build your carb with a Polished body (500cfm carb only)
***8226;You can add Outerwear pre-filter in red, blue, black or yellow for off road use

***8226;1x New Turbo.
***8226; For the 1600T and 2000TS kits we use a T3 turbo. This turbo is good for over 250hp and has a fast spool up time for street cars.
***8226;You can upgrade to our T3/T4 turbos for up to 325hp use or step up to the GT33 for real BIG POWER!!
***8226; Turbos can last for 100,000 miles and ours comes with a (1) year warranty against defects and workmanship.
***8226;You can add polished compressor housing to your order.
***8226; You can have your exhaust housing Ceramic Coated.
***8226;You can have the turbo center section Ceramic Coated.

The extra parts that our kits come with!
***8226; All the hose clamps you need to make this kit complete. For all the boots we use Real USA MADE Turbo "T"-Clamps
***8226; For the Oil drain we use a high temp 300psi USA MADE Parker® oil line. This is not your std oil line sold at any auto parts store.
We could use some cheap line but i want your kit to last for years not months!
***8226; Various size boost lines to conect the wastegate, carb, boost controller, and turbo.
***8226; We leave you a boost gauge port "open" for you to run a boost line to your dash for your gauge.
***8226; Fuel pump block-off . This is the return oil line or drain from the turbo on most of the kits.
***8226;High temp silicone boots to connect the turbo to the intake housing, "Y"-pipe and your end castings.
***8226;New locked-out ProBillet distributor for use with turbo combos only. This is a $160 distributor that we include in all 1600T and 2000TS kits for free!!!.
***8226; All brass boost and oil fittings to complet this kit( carb boost port fitting, wastegate inlet port fitting, oil drain 1/2" fittings and more)
***8226;Billet aluminum oil drain mount.
***8226;Stainless Steel Oil feed line with crush fittings and mounts.
***8226;AN aluminum Dash 6 fuel inlet fitting at the Holley carb.
***8226; Aluminum custom hand made manifold with a CNC Billet carb flange all USA MADE!
***8226; Washable and reusable high flow air filter with chrome high polished top.
***8226; A tube of High Temp silcone for all exhaust flanges and gaskets.
***8226; Throttle cable. Yes we give you a new cable to replace your old one, this is a special cable and must be used on most kits.
***8226; All the nuts and bolts to bolt up the complete kit and all of its extras.
***8226; Tech suport, yes we want you to call us first! if at any time you have a question or need help please just call!!!
***8226; Its Easy, Simple to install!

You do have options with your kit click Here for info

***8226; Each kit is preinstaled on our mock-up motors twice.
We perform this task the first time to check that all the flanges lineup and to add any custom changes you may need like crank case E-Vac, O-2 sensor bung or add a muffler.
After all parts receive Ceramic Coatings we now mock up the entire kit. This time we hook up all the oil, fuel, boost and drain lines. The whole kit is completely assembled and then shipped this way! YES when you pull your kit out of the box it is assembled for the most part. All you will have to do is mount the header, drop in the distributor, set the turbo on the header and hook up the other ends of the lines and thats it You can do it in a weekend!
