It's a base model I believe. 2.0 the bigger of the 4 cylinders but no turbo which I'm glad. Don't want to be messing with those but it's a 5 speed which is a breath of fresh air over automatic and much peppier than the corolla for sure. And the interior lights are awesome. Bright neon blue and red even on the tachometer.

I have yet to do any research into vw's but so far this car seems simple enough to work on. The only odd parts are 12 point (triple square) bolts so far. Nothing too alien.

No plans other than keeping it running good. I dont feel any need to add power it feels great i think mostly thanks to the gearing in the 5 speed.

I still have to replace the cv shaft boot...like a dumbass i was torching a bolt the cv shaft boot went up in flames and melted...whatevr its like $15 for a new boot, and putting in a new starter. Got the parts already just need to find time to do it.

Unfortunately i need to wait till this person gets the title...they couldnt find it so they had to order a new one and it takes a week to come in the mail...the car is in my posession but i cant drive it...pretty frustrating.

Nice, hope it works out for you. My mother-in-law has a Jetta too but its a few years newer and the 5 cyl (2.5L?). Good car.
