Default 06 silverado build thread

Work is starting to pick up so i figured i would start my build thread this will be a slow build untill things get up and rolling so here is my truck at it sits now

Im going to start with the free or cheaper mods first. Like removeing the step bars, side mouldings, paint the front emblem, paint behind the grill, and debadge.

As far as the exterior goes she will be black and red with a little chrome for now. Im going to replace the hood with a twin scoop hood ive had my eye on

Do the 4 high mod (6 high when i get factory fogs)

Replace the tail lights with smoke LED's. I might even smoke them more

Add billet grill, color match front lower valance, paint to match handles, paint to match side mirrors, paint to match upper tailgate plastics, and paint to match plastics on rear bumper.

As far as performance i have done a little research into some things. Im going to do a full exhaust, intake, cam, and tune to start with. For now im going to go with a bullet muffler untill i get the cam in. I have access to welders now so im going to build me a nice intake since the ones already made can be up to 800. I also got a local guy here that can tune the truck once everything is complete.

Here is the cam i am wanting in it currently

As far as suspension im not to sure what i want yet. the two options are to lift it just a bit not alot. The option i have been thinking about a good bit is to lower it a little lower than the SS silverado if not the same. then go with an air bag system from Air Lift so i can raise it to factory hight if i need to tow a load or go offroading with it from time to time. That and my job sometimes requires me to go to jobsites off the beaten path.

here is the stock ride hight of the SS Silverado

so that all for now. Im just sitting here bored and thought i would share my plans for the Silvy. Im hoping to start with the free/cheap stuff this weekend. So ill keep ya updated.

well i might not get to working on the truck this weekend since a fork lift operator decided to run into my truck and put a nice size dent in the door. luckily most of it popped out but the company wants me to get some prices to fix it so they can cut me a check. so that will take up a good part of the weekend.

Just an update. im taking some things back to advanced tomorrow and getting some sand paper and VHT. Among doing the free stuff listed im going to go ahead and tint my tail lights and third brake light. I might also pick up some paint the same as mine and take apart my headlights and color match the insides to my truck. Anyone ever use the spray tint here. Im trying to figure out if i need one can or two for just the three lights.

also about 90% of the dent has popped itself back out. so im happy about that. So it shouldnt take to long getting 3 estimates of repair for this company

this is what i looks like now. the dent you see was the top of the big one and it went all the way to the trim piece on the door. and was almost as wide as the door. Too bad its still not that big that way they would give me a bigger check and then i could pop it out and pay like 100 for the little dent lol
