I'm looking for a picture of a 98+ camaro with the dash pad removed. I'm wondering how much room is under there behind the cluster, without pulling mine off. Sounds like they're pretty brittle and I don't want to crack mine just yet.
I'm pondering fitting a HUD in there if I've got enough room.

I can't speak for the 98+ dash, but I can tell you that there is next to no room under the pre 97 dashes. Maybe 1/2" unless you do some cutting.

I'm sure someone else can chime in with the newer dash.

I think colins pics are spot on. I tried but it was just too dusty with a light polin blend. But if you think a HUD will fit. Good luck! **BEWARNED: The Dash pad is a sensitive piece, baby it.**

thanks a ton for the pics!
I've heard the dash pad is pretty brittle, so that's why I didn't want to start tearing into things since I figured others have already been down that road.

But yeah, wow.. not as much space as I figured would be under there. There's such a rake to the glass so it'd be tough to fit something in there and make it look good at the same time. Without cutting the shit out of it, I'm not sure what would fit underneath in the dash. There's some old huds that sit on top of the dash but they still need some space underneath. Hmm yikes. I don't think I have the patience to dig into that project yet.
