View Full Version : Bending the passenger side engine hoist bracket

I know a lot of folk just bend the bracket out of the way to remove the valve covers.

My question is... do you have to remove the outer bolt before bending it, or can you bend the bracket back with both bolts still on?

Manual, but it shouldn't matter. I think the autos even have to deal with the trans stick back there.

if i remember i just reached back there with a wrench and took the bolts out. they were a pain but i got them. i took both brackets off and have them in a box in case i need to lift the motor.

I just when out there again. I did feel the outer bolt this time, but I could not get a tool on it at all. Did you remove yours from the top or underneath?

i removed the top one from the top and the bottom one from the bottom and almost lost my face to it when it fell but was caught by the trans which i forgot about and was wondering where the thunk i was hearing was coming from while driving.

Anyone have a 3800 out of their car or have the brackets and can take a picture of where the bolts are or would be?

Man, I should have removed this bracket when I had the transmission out.
