No cat, even dyno proven 3-4 HP increase without it, I'll find the link later.

I say high flow, it helps reduce rasp.

what if you have or plan to have headers and say 3" cat-back system. wont deleting the cat drop your back pressure to low?

I've never really heard an answer on that.

I guess it would depend on whether the inspector still has to physically see one or not... I know here they still look to see if the car still has one when doing a safety inspection.

high flow unless you enjoy the sound of the riciest thing you have ever hear. I'm talking rasp at 3k while driving

Dyno with no cat http://www.camarozone.com/forum/f16/1998-firebird-3-8-dyno-tune-e-t-specs-135701

Reading down on that post that car is modded and heavily tuned. That's not an average Stock v6.

Mine is stock other than exhaust, for now and it sounds and pulls better with out the cat.

Hmmm. Fk it I don't need one so I take the chance. I don't think I will like the whole ricer sound. Have to get one of those big mufflers so I can play the part right...lol

I took mine out and it seems to help, but I think I lost a little low end power.

You will loose some low end torque.

I'd go with a hi-flow personally.

you'll never notice a diffidence, I didn't. makes is a little louder is all. An adding the headers just makes it sound and pull even better threw out the whole rpm range.

I don't really know. Seat of the pants, it just felt sluggish off the line. I didn't know at the time torque dropped, so I wasn't mentally expecting it either.

When I bought my car it did not have a Cat. So that is the way it stayed. Runs awesome. Plenty of power for my driving needs. Runs a tad bit rich, but whatever...
If a smog test is not an issue for you, just delete it. Don't bother with the high flow version.

I'm ready to gut the cat on the Monte. My high flow is clogging

Just on a side note, those "sent from" signatures drive me nuts. Damn you default Tapatalk!

Agreed. It is removable in settings. I'm using Tapatalk right now with no sig.

I've cut out my cat. It seems the exhuast needs a little back pressure to improve the sound but i'm working on my exhaust a little more to see if i can kill all the rasp and popping. BORLA xr1 works pretty damn good. there a small *tink* noise left. like a metal clang. hopefully a second bullet style borla will solve my issue.

What's wrong with a high flow? Mine works fine.

Most aren't built well, and after a couple of years will break apart on the inside.

They are high-flow because they just put less in them.

I read if you do youre prone to more rasp at highway speeds. I dont like rasp lol. Unless the exhaust place talks me out of it.

And it's been proven almost a 5hp gain without the cat. An my borla sounds the same with and without the cat.

Not sure how mine would sound without it. Id have 3'' all the way back to a flowmaster muffler

With that flowmaster probably even shittier no offense

Revving in idle mine hits it at like 3200 but during load I don't think it really gets raspy at all
