View Full Version : 3.4L V6 Ram Air questions

Hi everybody :wavey:

I am an owner of an 1995 Firebird 3.4L V6 Firebird and saw the 3.4 Modification Encyclopedia.

Since one year I have the LT1 V8 throttlebody at home and in the future, I would like to modify an LT1 hrottle body on to the 3.4 plenum (upper intake)

After that work, I would like to switch a Ram Air kit also.

My question is: How long is the intake pipe from the Ram Air Suncoastkit to the LT1 throttle body?

Do I need to extend the LT1 throttlebody with a extension piece of metal (self made? whats the best option?) because the V6 is a lot shorter than the LT1 V8 engine.

Or can I buy extension tubes with adapter for the ram air kit to the throttle body, if they are availible?

Iam a little bit confused and desperate because I saw some pics with 3.4L birds with the ram air kit but didnt read informations about it and didnt see some extra pipes/adapters for the stock 3.4L throttle body to the ram air kit...strange....but what I know is that the LT1 intake pipe is a lot bigger in diameter than the L32 3.4L intake pipe^^

How did they connect the (probably) bigger ram air intake pipe to the stock smaller 3.4L throttle body??

Here are some pics:

Hope you can help me and give me cool ideas and tricks :dood:

Thanks a lot and best regards from Austria / Europe,

Eduard :wavey:

that first picture is my car :)

I believe I actually used a number of pieces to do it. I cut the original elbow just after the IAC sensor and used a transition plastic piece that came with my k&n CAI to connect from that to the inlet for the ram air.
