View Full Version : pacesetter headers & magnaflow cat

I have a '96 Camaro, just bought pacesetter headers and a mag high flow cat. The cat is 2.5" on both sides, but it looks like the pacesetter y-pipe is 3" (online site said it was 2.5"). Am I missing something, or should I get a cat that is 3" to 2.5"? Or maybe just do a straight pipe? I'm a little new to exhaust work.

Straight pipe, but yes it's 3"

If I do a straight pipe, what should I do for the downstream O2 sensor? Is an O2 simulator the only option?

You could tune it out.. other than tuning and sims I don't think there's any other options aside from just running with the CEL on.. it won't hurt anything really, that o2 sensor only checks to see if the cat is working.

after thoughts auto makes a nice sim. I used one for years before tuning out.

Sorry to hit you guys with another noob question, but how do I tune it out? Is it something I can do myself, or would I need a special shop and/or equipment to do it?

Also, if I do go with straight pipe, will I experience any power loss? My low end torque is terrible at the moment.

You need hptuners software or take it to get a tune. Mail order tunes are another option, I think frost does the v6 cars. He's an excellent ls1 mail order guy.
