Ok, so I'm a true Floridian and this is my first winter with a modded car. Does cold air make your exhaust sound quieter? I know that cold air helps the car run better but would it also quiet things down?

Its probably just in your head. With cold weather your taking in a colder denser charge of air, so things should louder if anything I would think.

I am getting over a cold and my ears have been popping so maybe it is just in my head. I mean, the car definitely felt quicker the other morning when it was in the upper 30s.

not only does it seem faster, it actually will be. colder denser air = more hp.

Having the engine warm up makes it run quieter, especially if you have a performance muffler, but cold weather? I'd say the car would be just as loud but cold air makes sound travel more efficiently over distances... so in a way the car would be louder when its cold.

oh and the reason why sound travels better in the cold? Rising heat bends sound waves upward.
