the TB's on the 96 - 97 3.8 is the same as a 98?

Reason why, is because by now most of you know I had to break the airbox off the cat as a bolt on the right side was ..... there (Forever). So what im figuring is just go a head and buy a CAI off ebay (Chrome intake) and using it. Problem there is the 98's are 89.00 and a 97 - 96 are like 28.00, so would I not be able to use that one instead? or is there some difference in the CAI's/TB?

As far as I know, they are the same, angled, cabled driven tb's.

The 96-97 run down into the fender well right?
I believe you can still do that for the 98's

Im gonna need something lol, just trying to figure out a solution, IIRC when we took the TB off mine, and in chat they mentioned it too, its straight. Is your TB angled?

angled/cable driven tbs were 95.5-97..........98 started the straight but still cable driven. then in either 99 or 2k they started the drive by wire.

im thinking of getting rid of my lid and doing my own cia.

Edit: I hope we are talking about the tb to upper intake thing right?
I mean there isn't a "more" angled tb on 95.5 to 97's is there?

That is false, the 98s are the same as the 95-97 cars. Only difference is that they got the lid. 99+ cars have straight and DBW

i stand corrected.....so there are no cable driven tb's on straight intakes?

SO I could use a 97 CAI Then?

Negative.

Yeap, as along as that hole (i think inner fender) is still there.

yes a 97 intake would work, but then I would get a 93-97 radiator shroud to finish off the top of the radiator instead of having a pointless lid on it.

No straight tb cars had cable tb's

that angled TB looks HORRIBLE for air flow.
