    Actually, there's a turbo setup I was looking at that's suppose to get it around 150 RWHP. Considering the car weighs 1750 pounds...

    You could've told me that 10 years ago and I'd never have believed you. Just within a couple miles of my house, there were at least 3 or 4 different Ghias running around. Fast forward to now and I don't see them anymore, with exception of a red one I've seen putting along all summer. Unfortunately, it stalled out in traffic last week and the guy couldn't get it to start.

    But this looks like it'll be an awesome build. Can't wait to see progress, especially on such a clean one.

    I found this kit at VW Turbo Kits.











    $2295

    This is what it comes with:


    1x True 4 into 1 merged collected turbo header, made from 16 gauge steel. ( not 18 or even cheap 20 gauge like others )
    •All headers are 100% Polished Chromex Ceramic or Black Velvet Ceramic Coating.
    •Each header comes with laser cut 3/8" thick flanges at all ends.
    •All LowBugget turbo headers are made in the USA.
    • This header will allow you to still remove your fan belt without removing the header unlike others!.
    •You can still run heater boxes and stock heater duct shrouds.
    •The 1600T header pipes are 1 3/8", 2000TS is 1 1/2"
    •Fits under the deck lid!!!
    • "J" pipes to match the header. Made from 16 gauge steel, Polished Ceramic Coating.

    1x Ceramic Coated "Up Pipe"
    Connects the header -to the turbo exhaust housing.
    • 3/8" thick flanges.

    1x exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe is different with each kit. Bus, Ghia, and 912 kit have the same style that exits out the right side
    (1 and 2 side) of your motor. The Bug kits exhaust exits out the left side just under the aprin..
    • The size of each exhaust pipe will range from 2 1/2" for most T3 combos to 3" for the large T3/T4 combos.
    •All exhaust piping is Ceramic Coated.
    •We can add to your exhaust a O2 sensor bung,
    •We can add Crank Case E-Vack to vent the case of the extra pressure from the turbo.

    •1x Ceramic Coated "Y" pipe that conects your stock end castings to the turbo.
    •If you do not have End Castings we can make them to your order.
    •We can polish the end castings for you.

    •1x Turbo Prep Carbs.

    • Each kit is preinstaled on our mock-up motors twice.
    We perform this task the first time to check that all the flanges lineup and to add any custom changes you may need like crank case E-Vac, O-2 sensor bung or add a muffler.
    After all parts receive Ceramic Coatings we now mock up the entire kit. This time we hook up all the oil, fuel, boost and drain lines. The whole kit is completely assembled and then shipped this way! YES when you pull your kit out of the box it is assembled for the most part. All you will have to do is mount the header, drop in the distributor, set the turbo on the header and hook up the other ends of the lines and thats it You can do it in a weekend!

    I found some good pump gas test results with this kit.

    1915cc

    With our base 1600T kit (T25 turbo), LBC2 cam, pocket port 40x35 heads on pump gas. 167hp and 176tq @8lbs of boost.

    With our LBC2 cam, base 1600T kit (T3 turbo) with our old and small 32x36 progressive carb. 176hp and 207tq at the wheels on 15lbs of boost. This motor ran a best of 13.31 @101mph in 1/4 mile on 165 stock tires @12lbs of boost!

    1600T kit with a (T3 turbo) and 40x35 ported heads.
    241hp and 252tq @ 15lbs of boost. Car ran 11.79@ 115mph on DOT slicks.

    With our Manx kit, (T3/T4 turbo), ported 40x35 heads and the holley 500 carb. 240hp and 252tq @ 13lbs of boost.
