That gasket problem was the nylon not the dex. There is a lot of bad press for it, truth is the new formula (in the past 15 years) is perfectly fine

That is an important point about the gasket material being part of the issue. I don't have supporting information but recall seeing the same in my web searches. The gasket materials were not resistant to breakdown from aging dex cool. I don't know if they were not revised when GM switched or they were not revised correctly.
I haven't looked in to other manufacturers but wonder if they had similar issues with their long-life coolants.

I voted 3.4.
First time I heard my beloved 95 FB start up, was magical, really loud, and angrier sounding than any V8 I've ever heard. It wasn't lopy or raspy, just really angry.
The interior and exterior were every bit the high quality workmanship expected of a $750 car that the dealer was hesitant to sell.
Unfortunately, the fuel system was of matching quality, and it lived up to the name on the trip home from the dealer.
Looking for another 3.4 because there isn't enough terror in the pedestrians in my area.
I still remember the look on the dealer's face when we started it. He was working on some other cars while my mechanic was fixing the engine (was just flooded, but did new plugs, wires, battery, radiator cap as well) and the sound of the world's angriest V6 outright startled him, lol
i drive a 3.4

I've had a few mods done to internals during the rebuild
We'll just hypothetically call it a "3.8" It's a little bigger, but not much.
