Cold Start Question

i have a 97 3.8L when it's cold out 20 deg's or so,when i start her i get the lifters tapping kinda loud but only for 10-15 sec's until i get a good oil flow i guess,my 94 v6 never did this,this can't be normal for cold starts....and yes the oil level is fine

UPDATE...this problem went away for a lil bit but is now back and it will not stop tapping now....oil level is good but now the guage moves very slightly to the plus...i remember seeing this reading much higher than that when there was no noise....could it be an oil pump that was weak and on it's way out and it's now toast??

I have the same thing on cold days with my 02 3.8l. Goes away after a few seconds and oil changes always makes it go away for a week or two. Not sure what the issue is. Id be very happy to see what it is

stuck my head in and it's hard to tell,got only 118,000 on this 97 a lil early for a lifter no??

Mine was a 2000 with 150K and I had a lifter go to the point of blowing the entire bottom out of the engine.

Mines only 89k. Got it at 84 and it was kinda doing it.

will get a mechanical guage reading hopefully mon at my buddy's garage until then she sits
