It just slows the flow of oil, which means less lubrication and more friction. Eventually breaking shit

Ok I pulled the oil filter housing off the timing cover. Do you do the mod to the housing itse. Or do you do the mod to the timing cover part of it?

you mod the adapter housing that bolts to the timing cover. to answer your question, the best i understand oil passages can get smaller restricting flow through the filter. the filter itself is a bottleneck. this mod will create a small passage bypassing the filter thus allowing the oil to flow better under high rpm (the most stressful and important time for lubricant)

Sorry if I keep asking questions about this im just trying to understand it a little better. If one was to get this would they still need to do this oil mod to the filter housing ?http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/...olume-Kit.aspx

And from what I see on the filter housing is a small circular thing below the part where you screw the filter onto. I take it this is the oil bypass valve? If it is what are you suppose to do to this drill it out and tap it and put a pipe plug in it to block it off?

It sounds like that will do a similar job to the mod.

i'm not sure. the cylinder and the spring plug the hole that bypasses the filter. the spring is for resistance so that it doesn't bypass all the time. maybe he drills out around that. i can't say he didn't reveal any detail to me
