Default How to: Fix our BCM

First off I'll just talk about some of the symptoms of this common issue.

    - Radio will cut in and out or just shut off completely
    - Power windows won't work, we manual window people don't have to worry about this one.
    - Worst case it won't let the car start

Most likely the cause of all of these issues is just some crappy soldering joints by GM. It not a very hard thing to fix, so I'll get on with how to fix it.

    Tools needed:
    - Soldering Iron
    - Solder
    - Little clip remover or pliers
    - Phillips head screwdriver

First unhook the battery. Next take out the kick panel 2 clips in the front, and one in the back. You will also have to remove the rocker panel as well. Thats just a few Phillips head screws.

After those are out you will have to drop the glove box. The BCM is in the back right corner of the picture.

Next get the damn thing out of there. Might take some motivation, but there are two clips holding it in its little box.

Undo the connections and take it out of the car.

Pretty easy to open once you have it out of there. Circled are the 5 pins that are known to have to be resoldered.

You can see which of mine was pretty bad.

After that put it all back together and hope it all works, and then test it.

You might not have to. This is much more common on the newer F-bodies.

Radio issues hmm? I have an aftermarket radio, but it's hooked into the factory harness. It constantly turns itself off and back on. Could this be a BCM issue?

Ha most likely yes. Do your windows still work after that happens?

I'm not understanding what and how you're soldiering.

Also, the radio in mine is aftermarket as well and does like Bones. Maybe it will be easier to just take the BCM outta the angry bird lol

those 5 solder joints break and cause problems. you solder them back and things work again.

Yeash, I only had to resolder the one. I haven't had any issues since I did this.
