Default AEM Filter for '98-'02 4th Gen F-Body not available

In case anyone is interested, I'm looking into a permanent air filter and am considering one of the dry-flow filters. I plan to eventually install the Fast-Toys Ram-Air Kit but my filter is due for a change now so may as well upgrade the filter.

LS1 Tech tried this summer to get AEM to make a Dry Flow filter for the '98-'02 F-Body but due to the perceived low volume interest the price was at least $90 so abandoned the effort.

I'm still shopping around. I may go with Airaid or Amsoil.

Well, after some consideration I'm going to try the Airaid Synthamax non-oiled. I ordered it from Amazon (no tax/shipping) and it was only $11 more than the Amsoil (after tax/shipping).

I was just going to get a Wix from the local parts store, but the guy at the counter couldn't find it on the shelf in the back. I don't want to go through this every year.

I'll post fit and finish information along with the required pics when I receive it next week. I do not expect any noticeable performance change, just convenience of (hopefully) never having to purchase another filter.

I installed the Airaid Synthamax non-oiled air filter last night. I'll try to post pics soon.

It fits snug in the air box. No noticeable gain in performance as expected. That might be because I did not place the Airaid decal on my car yet (must be good for at least 10 HP ).

I was more interested in the convenience of a permanent filter because it takes me less time to clean one than to track down a paper filter at the auto stores around here.
