I wont buy a car for 3000 that has drivetrain issues.. By shift kit im assuming its automatic? And not going into 3rd gear could be as simple as a bad shift solenoid, or as complicated as requiring a while tranny rebuild/replacement. Idk, the fact it was a kid owning it too means he probably beat it to shit. just my 2 cents, ive been burned on bad craigslist purchases in the past

Ah okay, just speaking from what I can see in the ad, but people can always be sketchy. Saw they got the car like that and dont know whats wrong with it when they are the ones that broke it and play dumb. Not saying its like this for your situation but I always assume the worst.
