    Default 3.4L/3400

    Hey everyone,
I've been looking into doing this swap for a long time and I finally feel confident enough to give it a shot. This engine will be going into my '95 Camaro with the 3.4L obviously. So far my build plan is:
    2000 3400 Upper Plenum-- Check
    2000 3400 Lower Plenum-- Check
    2000 3400 Throttle Body-- Check
    2000 3400 fuel rail + regulator-- Check
    2000 3400 Fuel lines-- Check
3.4 Water Neck (British Car Conversions)-- Wondering if I can just use a longer house?
2000 3400 Heads and Valve Covers-- Check
    Pacesetter Headers-- Waiting
    3400 Spark Plugs-- Check
    Dual wire Temperature Sensor-- Waiting
    3.4L Block-- Freshly machined block
    3400 Pistons-- Check
    Custom Cam-- Check
    Custom Pushrods-- Check
    Comp 26986 Springs-- Ordered
    Comp Flat Tappet Lifters-- Ordered
Double Roller Timing Chain Set-- Ordered

I believe that I have to change to the 3400 pistons to run a safe CR, so if anyone can confirm that I'd appreciate it. But just out of curiosity, what would the CR be with the 3.4 Pistons? And other than a junkyard, is there anywhere that sells stock 3400 pistons? As for gaskets I'm not too sure which ones I need so anyone who can help me with that I'd appreciate it as well.

I think I have the tuning part figured out for the most part. I was pointed towards Tunercats who recently came out with support for tuning the 3.4L Pcm in win flash. I feel like a couple of tuning tutorials and I should be able to figure it out.

There's still a few more things I need to decide on and was hoping I could get some help from you guys. For the cam, I've been debating on running the Comp 260H or 252H High Energy Cam, along with 1.6 Comp Rocker Arms with the Hardened Pushrods but I'm not sure if I'd be able to use that with the set-up I described above so any help or guidance you guys can give me is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!
    -Johnny

if your tearing it all the way to the pistons then I'd go ahead and replace all the gaskets. It'll be worth it later.

I can't help much about the swap but I've rebuilt the 3800 so I can give you pointers and advise there. as for pistons you'll probably have to buy "aftermarket" parts. I'm running Sealed Power (Federal Mogul) pistons and they have been running great for more than a year. You can find them at places like autozone or you can go to a rebuilder and buy them from there which is what I did.

Well I'm not sure which pistons to go with, my 3.4l block only had 140,000kms on it, and all the pistons and cylinder walls are fine, but I'm not sure if I need to swap the pistons for a safe CR rate. How much did those pistons run you? I was planning on replacing all the gaskets on the entire engine anyways, it's just I'm not sure which head gasket to run, the 3.4L or the 3400 haha.

The engine is getting totally rebuilt. I'm replacing almost everything that looks original, grounds, freeze plugs, all those little things haha. Might even get a new instrument cluster that says 0kms on it :P

I'd have to go check how much I paid. It wasn't much I don't think.

As for the ODO. I'd leave it. That mileage has to do with the car also.

Looks like I paid right at 200 for the pistons.

I've used felpro on most everything without issue.

Haha I was referring to whether or not to use the 3.4L or 3400 gaskets, cus they're different thicknesses resulting in different CRs.
