Short time lurker, first time poster.

RdH, I've been reading your posts on several sites, other than this one, for awhile. Then a couple of weeks ago I stumbled across this site and your post and I see the recent update. Awesome to see that it runs!

Had problems registering. Contacted xpbr2000 through FrankForged and got the problem fixed so here I am.

I've got a similar build going in my S10 except for the 28# injectors. Got mine running about 2 months ago. Then I had a rear main seal leak, transmission rebuild and some personal stuff going on, so I'm just now getting back to tuning. I think I can help get you started.

I haven't seen you mention any tuning or logging software. TunerCat has a new PCM_V6 definition version L that finally has fuel injector flow rate. It's dated 6/2019. Got some new constants and tables. Most important one is the Idle VE table.

If you contact them about the software give them your VIN number and they will send you an updated BIN file with the correct tables filled in.

For datalogging I'm using Scan94/95 from GaryDoug. Then import the logs into Trimalyzer. That takes some fine finagling to get it right.

I can help with the initial tuning if you want. might speed it up a bit and remove some frustration. I'm no expert. only previous experience is tuning the LT1 in my S10 Blazer. Don't hate me cause it's not a Camaro.

I just picked up my ALDL cable the today finally. I'm hoping that a friend is going to be able to help me tune it via email, but it's a very daunting task for me at this point.

It's not that bad. I had other issues, bad coil and injector. I somehow got my #1 cylinder on the wrong side. It's not the piston in the front. Ran really rich. This was before I found the def update from TunerCat. So I got the fuel rail and 18# injectors from a 99 Chev Venture just to prove that it was going to work. Ran much better. Spent a day playing around and bricked a PCM. Had 2 spares from the wrecking yard. Found the new def file so I could set FI flow rate. An hour later I was driving it. Running good enough that I hooked up the trailer, drove 10 miles away and picked up a load of sawdust. Drove it all over the place with the trailer while datalogging. Think I maxed out the 18# injectors because it was bogging down at 60+ MPH. Went back and put the Grand Am 22.5# back in set the flow rate and it fired right up. Start all over.

Your 28# are something like 160% bigger than the 3.4l Inj. There is a Crank PW v. Coolant Temp table to mod that will keep it from loading up during start. This table is not affected by your FI Flow Rate. I kept multiplying the whole table by 95% until it started acting normal. Still had problems during a hot start so I started tweaking the warmer end of the table. Think I'm somewhere around 75% of the original.

Get the Scan 94/95 logging going right after that and work on the IDLE VE table. I can help with modifying the log file so it will work with Trimalyzer And you'll be in business.

I also borrowed the BIN for a 94 Grand Am 3.1L at the wrecking yard. I have been using some of the timing tables since it is an aluminum head motor. Some of it is wrong because it's from an Auto and I have Manual Trans. I can send you a copy.

BTW, when you get started make a backup copy of your BIN and store it somewhere else other than your tuning folder and never mod it.

I own an S-10 as well. I can't say much

plus, we are too lazy to discriminate.

Thanks for reaching out to Robin. 3.4 or 3400 tuning info is lacking on this site. Your posts will help several folks on down the road.

It's kind of sad watching these V6 forums lately. Most of them haven't had any posts in years. Same goes for the S10 forums. Not much interest in turning wrenches these days.

I spend a lot of time training at work so I have figured out that I learn a whole lot more by passing that info to someone else. One of my instructors always said the best way to learn is to teach someone else. I have a couple of months head start.

lol yeah unfortunately a lot of people have quit using forums. there are several reason why forum activity is on the decline. Facebook is one reason, Photobucket pulling their shenanigans was another large blow. But I feel like if you have the information people will find it. so we keep our doors open looking for new ways to use the forum and get people talking to each other.

I've been using TunerCat with the PCM_V6 definition file. $$$

Scan and Datalogging with Scan94/95_V6 from GaryDoug. http://www.mediafire.com/file/a5vohu...1-2-1.zip/file Free

Trimalyzer to modify the VE tables. Free or donation.

Picking up my truck from the exhaust shop in the morning. Got to go to emission testing so we'll see how the idle tune worked.

I'm thinking about starting a new thread this week to detail what I've been doing for tuning the 3.4/3x00.

Coworker was in the middle of installing his new (used) Mustang Dyno. Stopped in the middle of it to start on his new barn. I got my Wide band O2 installed and was hoping to get some free dyno time. Maybe in January.
