Well found a wicked deal on some tires locally. I wasn't in love with the stock salad shooter style and was very reluctant to drop $1k on tires for them and found a steal. A set of stock 10 spokes from a 2001 camaro. The best part? Tires are brand new with 90% tread left, and I got them for $400 for the set! Absolutely insane deal. He also had a set of graphite door panels with the black leather that he told me $100 for that I'll be picking up later this week! It was definitely a good day!

that is a good find. my c5 vette wheels were 400 but in terrible condition.

I'm not a fan of the salad shooters either. those 10 spokes look nice.

Just a quick little start video. Got the rims and tires all swapped over. picking up a set of door panels tonight as well for $80 for the pair with leather inserts and stuff already. Interior of the car is going to look super clean when it's done! I'm planning on replacing the passenger side window motor with 1 I snagged from a parts car, but I'm not sure how to fasten them after I swap?

lol Nice! I always like start up vids. even though you know its going to start.... there is always that anxiety.

Good on you sir for sticking with it.

Now the hard part.... deciding how to make it look as good as you feel lol

Double din was a must. I tried to cut and split my bezel. I just haven't finished it. like most everything on the car at the moment lol

Yeah I'm really happy with how the double din kit from Metra worked out. Wasn't overly pricey either so it was a win win. So the door panels I picked up didn't come with the door handle trim pieces. Are they interchangeable from 93-96 and 97-02? The ones in my current door panels are both broken by the handles and if I can I'd like to pick up some that aren't cracked, just need to know which ones will work.

They are not the same doors but I believe they are interchangeable.

Well, had a buddy come out to help dial in the tune, took it around the block and got back to the house only to find it leaking oil. Badly. And not just an oil leak, but milky oil. Not really sure which route to go. Track down the leak and get 1 thing repaired, or just give the shop the green light to tik rebuild the engine and replace everything. *♂️

    BOOO!

That sux. Hopefully its not too expensive to rebuild.

Hopefully the fix it simple. maybe a bad head gasket or something.

I'm really thinking about picking up another shell. My car has been sitting and neglected for 6 -7 years now. Bottom of the car and the wheel wells definitely didn't look great when I had it up in the air. The plan is to try and sell the car this summer, and the paint job on my current car is a disaster. There's some flaking on a door, unpainted front bumper and the rear bumper has some really bad spider cracking. There's no telling what the suspension is going to feel like, and this just feels like it might be the best route to go. I can get my hands on a 98 trans am with everything but the motor and trans for 2500 cad. There's a guy going to look at it today, but I'm next in line. Ideally that's the one I would want as it's complete and the rear end would be an upgrade, and the trans ams sell for more around here. There's also a 1995 z28 shell, not sure if it still has the rear end on it or not which would be a determining factor, but the body looks straight as well and was driving less than a month ago when he pulled the engine to go the ls1 route and ended up buying a 98+. Little torn on which route to go.
