My moog mounts sucked, bolts are not long enough. Their also not built into the mount like oem.

Don't forget the dust boot and bump stop that's inside the front shock assemble. I tried doing what your doing and could never find all the pieces, make sure you make a list of part numbers if you find everything.

The shock mounts are crazy expensive. I refused to spend $70 per side for them, so I reused mine. Although that required disassembling them.

@auscorp, I bought the coil spring insulators off eBay. Is moog K6573. Was very cheap, like $6-8 per side. Fit perfectly inside the stock upper shock mounts . Also comes with new bolts and nuts for securing the upper shock mount inside the engine bay.

And are you referring to the spring seat as the lower spring perch? I'm unfamiliar with konis, I know KYB AGX comes with the perch. And bilsteins require you to reuse the one from the old shock. Oh, and I don't know if koni gives you dust boots as Kris mentioned as well. Bilsteins gave me new rear boots, but had to reuse the fronts.

@Kris, what is this bump stop you are talking about?

Oh and you have to take off your front endlinks. If they aren't somewhat new, it's around a 95% chance they'll snap coming off. Now's a great time to replace or upgrade. Luckily I did mine last year, and even then they were already showing some corrosion on the metal and were a little tough to get off. Didn't anti seize them last year, sure as hell did this time around

there is a bump stop in the top of the dust boot. and Matt is talking about the insulators at the bottom of the spring. not the dog bone at the top, which you listed moog K6573.

What other parts are there then? I thought at the top it was just 2 parts, the dog bone, and the shock mount... The insulator part was built into the shock mount.

Here is an image I put together trying to explain the components of the front shock. This is specific to the Koni, but should be the same terminology for any of them.

This image shows the upper mounting hardware. If specs for the lower bolts are needed I can probably add to the image.


If I use the wrong terms please let me know and I'll update the pics.

My question is if it is worthwhile to buy the Monroe kit in order to get the insulator for the bottom of the spring. I think it will help prevent noise from vibration.
