Hey guys, so I've been thinking and trying to plan out my project for this car and decided to finally make a thread about it. It's a 1995 3.4L camaro basically stock and unmolested to my knowledge. I got it as a grad gift back in 2010 and it's my first car. When I got it there was a problem with the fuel injection causing the car to back fire and run extremely rich. Turns out that the guy who had it before me tried bigger injectors, didn't pay his mechanic, so he messed around with the wires causing it to fail AirCare (emissions) since 1998. After a little bit of work I managed to get the car running well and was actually thankful that he screwed the wiring since because it was running so poorly, the car only had 112,000kms on it! It came with the rims on it and this is how she looked when I brought her home the first day.
I took her to the drive in on a date that summer and ended up getting my first ever injury. I was following a little to close to a pick up truck when he suddenly slammed on his brake and his hitch came down and cracked my front bumper cover fairly good.
My first mod I ever did on the car was to replace the stock speakers. Not much of a mod but at 18 it was what I felt comfortable doing. I replaced all the bose speakers with infinity reference speakers with the exception of the stock subwoofer in the back. Next up I was tired of the poor light output of the stock lights and really liked the way that the angel eye headlights looked even though they're round I decided to go with the ones from navigator.
I was fairly happy with these as the install was easy and I thought at the time that they were the most bad ass things in the world
That was basically it for my modifications as a teenager.
I drove it pretty hard when I first got it, as most 18 year olds do with their first cars, and it's finally catching up to me. The car still runs well, but when I drive it for extended periods of time or on a long trip it tends to run pretty hot and overheat randomly. I don't blow blue smoke, my oil isn't milky, I've replaced the thermostat twice, and I've come to the decision that it's time to yank the engine and do the full rebuild. My parents got me the gasket kit for christmas along with a new clutch
I've been waiting for my parents to get the garage done so I'm not stuck working out in the grass and mud over the winter, but I found something that made me reconsider how quickly I want to get it done. I picked up a roller z28 car for pretty cheap and ripped off basically every usable part. The front bumper, hood, fenders, berger panel, doors, t-tops, rear bumper and the thing I'm most excited about is the lsd rear end with 3.42 gears and disc breaks! So stoked to get that installed. The tires and rims are both in great shape as well. I'm just waiting for all the pictures to upload to my comp from my phone and I can upload them then but until then, any ideas you guys have just let me know!
Thanks for reading,
Johnny
