That is probably exactly what they said. I have watched episodes of Mighty Car Mods where they have some cars with a built in hatch for the fuel pump and I just think how nice would that be.

Subarus have the trap door built-in. All cars have the "that was easy" and "I'm going to have to bribe someone to not throw me out of his shop when I drive up in this thing" stuff.

Meh, I dropped the axle. TBH it took me the same amount of time it would have taken cutting a hatch. But it was my second fuel pump swap in a Thirdgen lol

well if you have to do it twice (i did) then the hatch being cut make the second time literally a 30 minute job. there is value in having a hatch for the "just in case"
