Default Martian 5 inch FPV drone

Well guess I'll post mine up too.

    Motors hyperlite 2205 2600kv
    Camera foxeer hs 177
    Cl racing f4 aio fc
    Vtx mach 2
    20 amps esc

Eachine VRD2 pro goggles and a Flysky FS-i6X Tx.

I started out with a mini whoop on loan from a friend to get used to the controls. Was using it with my Walkera Devo7e, which I loaded the deviation firmware to. Picked up the Walkera SBUS Rx and it worked great in PPM mode. Once I made the switch to SBUS it just wouldn't work.

At that point I scratched Walkera off the list. Too proprietary.

So my buddy Jose told me to give him a bunch of old phones and he would order me a Tx.

BTW this dude is awesome. He doesn't have very many people to fly with, so he built me a drone setup and all with no upfront cost.

For everything he is charging me less than $200.

Im flying without the self level crutch known as angle mode.

    Using a 4s 1500mah 100c burst and a 4s 1300mah 100c burst.

Soon as I brought this drone home I shaved almost 20 grams off the dry weight for a total weight of 298 grams.

My first hiccup was pulling the VTx board off the sticky tape in the stack. I wound up ripping a solder pad off.

Good thing I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron. I'm gonna post a link to this iron in a few cause the thing is far too amazing not to pass on.

And to think I've been doing SMD stuff with a 45w Weller iron with a standard tip. SMH.

This thing heats up so fast and comes with a bunch of different tips. It's a very high quality knockoff that I wish I had years ago.

The temp is in Celsius, but I find 400 degrees C is perfect for just about anything.

So yesterday I was flying up and down my street, unfortunately not recording.

And at full speed clipped a power line lol. I'm surprised it didn't break more to be honest. But the carbon fiber frame is super thick.

Broke the camera housing and the bind button off the Rx.

If you don't already know, when using super glue, sprinkle baking soda on it when what you're gluing is in place. It'll instantaneously harden rock solid.

Careful using it in large amounts; it's an exothermic reaction so it'll get warm.

Thought I grabbed a pic of the fixed switch but oh well.

    And last but not least,

My buddy also hooked me up with a dipole antenna for the Tx.

Here's the dipole mod. Iirc this has been tested to over a mile.

On the Flysky Tx it's super simple.

When I worked at AutoZone, a lot of the hardware for the smaller motorsports batteries were left behind.

I like extra stuff, and now I found use for one of the battery bolt spacers! Perfect fit!

Here is the flight before I crashed lol.

The rest of my vids are on my channel.

I'm getting stick control down little by little. Working on many other things too lol.

    Enjoy

Did some of my first power loops today. I'll have a few more videos uploaded later. Swapped out my VTx and still have a little noise so I've got a filter to install now too.

    Nice setup.

you and I have modded some of the same things. I had/have a flysky i6 also. its flashed with new firmware to get 8 or 10 channels (i forget). and has the 10db mod also. I got a nirvana nv14 but haven't been able to fly it much. just testing in the yard. I wish I could get back to flying a couple times a month. its just too hard to right now.

Sometimes you just have to grab the bull by the horns and make time.

I've uploaded a few more videos to my YouTube channel. Been learning power loops.

I've spent a lot of time tuning my quad. I'm very particular about how it feels to fly.

I'll post a vid or 2 on my site and link them here just so you can see them.
