Default V6FB, Time for an Upgrade!! -Post Bugs here-

We here at V6FB have been looking to upgrade for a while. Due to the decline of users and the lack of financial support we only focused on keeping the server dues up to date. Keeping a website going takes annual fees for the server and the domain. We, the forum Owner (Bonemaro) and Admin (Xpbr2000), keep this forum running up to date. This also means the software that runs the forum itself.

The software we use is VBulletin which isn't free or cheap. We managed to purchase a second hand license to get the forum up to date with current standards (really we are about 5 or 10 years behind)

What does this mean for users? Well, hopefully you will notice very little impact of the function of the forum. The most noticeable difference is the look of the forum. We currently have a red and black theme. This is a custom theme we created for the site. The upgrade will effectively disable this theme and we will have to recreated it. Other differences include added features and maybe a few navigation changes.

It will take some time to finish making all the changes to get it back to the forum we know and love. Hopefully, time permitting, we will have it back to its former self in a reasonable amount of time.

    What to expect:

-The upgrade should happen this week, by 7-20-19. The forum will be offline during the upgrade. Expected eta 2 hours

-The themes will not be created immediately. We will use this opportunity to update the look of the forum. Expected ETA 6 weeks to the end of the year to completely change the theme. (in the mean time we will have the old images in the header of the website. It however will not look right until we get it completely updated) We may see small changes at a time while we get our ideas together as to what looks good. (feel free to comment while its going on we appreciate the feedback)

-The forum should maintain all the data such as threads and user information. if this doesn't happen we will correct the issues immediately. This may also take some time. Please be patient.

-Once the forum is upgraded you will see new features that we may have to spend some time getting to know before we can really talk about it. I will create a thread with all the information that I find and create a " how to " or something to help users understand how they work.

Overall the forum will function exactly the way it does now but it should open up a few new or different ways to use the forum. This upgrade is being required just to keep the server up to date and we didn't want to take down the forum as a result. We want this forum to live on for a long time. It has a lot of good information and we made the decision to put money into the site so that it can still be a useful tool for anyone who wants to use it.

As always if you want to support what we do here, you can always use our paid memberships. This helps offset the cost of the server fees. Our commitment is to keep this site going for as long as possible regardless of cost or time.

We thank you for you support and patience while we get all this changed over. We hope this gets us covered for a few years more.

the first thing you will see is the generic VB theme. we will work on the new layout. I've already done some work in the past to update the look to a nicer theme. but we will see what this vb version lets us do.
