Default 1 - Purpose of this section

Over the next year or so i will be canvassing my hybrid build consisting of a 3.4 block with a 3400/3500 top end.

My build will be used as the starting point for this section but I will try to gather as much outside information as I can and throw it together in a coherant manner.

I would ask that any of you who frequent other forums such as cfv6 or ftv6 & etc. would point those asking about hybrid builds over to us where you can tell them one of their own is starting/documenting his build step by step for all to see.

What many people don't realize is that there are MANY different options when it comes to choosing parts for the hybrid motor and this is both a good thing and a bad thing because for one, it makes each hybrid build uniqe and hence more difficult to replicate but it also gives us a HUGE aftermarket that not many people know about.

Just for instance, consider the fact that the stock 3.4 throttlebody is 50 mm in diamater and the only option available is to port out your stock piece. The stock 3400 is a much improved 56mm but there are multiple companies selling a bored out 59mm version of that tb as well as a 62mm/65mm billet version. Plus, if that's not enough, there are also those who are selling adapter plates that make 70mm and 75mm tb's a possible bolt on.

This aftermarket is just huge and each person is going to have a different choice to make for each part along the way.

Also, there are many diminutive steps that I have already come across that have never made it to the "general" hybrid info threads started mostly by Russel who started this campaign many years ago. There are simply put, things left out that may seem superfluous to the hardcore gear head but leave the average mechanic searching for answers.

For instance, how do I route my wiring? How do I route the heater hose lines with the new setup? What minor modifications are necessary for this project to come together as a whole in the end?

I plan to tackle all of these things and instead of starting once I am finshed with the build would rather see these things documented along the way.

Stay posted folks, cause this is gonna be good.

For a general description/overview of my hybrid build see Sticky # 2.

Actually the 3.4 market is bigger than people think.

Lots of the 2.8/3.1 parts will fit like the cams, timing chains, etc.

Plus, if you go hybrid (what this is all about really) you can start looking at a lot of the aftermarket parts for the 3100/3400/3500.

What is your name?

I feel like I should know it if we are to become blood brothers.

I don't care what those guys are saying. If you do what I do, you will be smoking LT1's

My car is fast NOW, and that's with all iron pieces.

I'm about to start posting up about my parts list/modifications list &etc. plus lots of pics so we can get things rolling.

Seems like we've picked up a lot of 3.4 members lately, this might be the moment to get things going.

Hahaha, I was thinkin if it could be done, which it probably could, putting individual coils on the valve covers like the LS motors.

Well, I suppose today is as good a day as ever to start.

I'm going to post up a current list of parts/modifications for my build and maybe get some pictures up too.

I need to stress that I will only be canvassing MY OWN 3x00 build. There are MANY different ways to go (there are 3 different heads to choose from alone) but it will at least be a good basis.
